JOB OVERVIEW

Mentor and guide the architecture team to help ensure projects are completed according to company expectations. 10+ years or proven ability to perform.
Subject matter expert on architectural principles and concepts. Provides guidance to the team on building systems, construction techniques, and structures. Leads the development of details and providing planning and design support in the preparation of Design Development and Construction Documents.
Subject matter level knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements, occupany requirements, permitting processes & construction document production is required. Guide the firm with creating, implementing and constantly updating standards for the various phases. Hand-off Report of all zoning requirements, conditions of approval and any client’s desires or wishes discussed during SD’s Identity potential projects risks related to zoning issues. Ensure that all design adhere to local zoning and building laws and regulations. Conduct Zoning analysis and site assessment to inform design decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • LEED accreditation is a plus but not required. Pursuing Licensure. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S without visa restrictions.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited School of Architecture is desired.

    Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Primarily leads others in the development of design related tasks while also developing concepts for projects of the largest scale and complexity.
  • Leads and conducts material and product research for project development for projects of different scale. Reviews and approves research by others.
  • Oversees and review work of supporting architectural team members. Implement processes for quality assurance throughout the design phase. Review design documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards. Provides technical direction to assigned design staff and engineers.
  • Subject Matter expert in using Revit & Autocad, Bluebeam, Adobe CS Suite Software, and Microsoft Products. Ability to explore and learn new software.
  • Responsible for coordination and direction of single or multi-discipline teams and parties on assigned projects of large scale and complexity.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selects, evaluates, and implements procedures and techniques used on projects. Works independently on architectural design projects and often coordinates project design efforts. Contribute to evolving and implementing design documentation standards and software tools. Constantly seeks knowledge and provides an environment that encourages innovation. Proactively takes lead in implementing into projects and design processes.
  • Delegate task effectively and monitor team performance. Guides the team on providing technical expertise and advises client on best solutions and recommendations in design.
  • When client requests are out of scope, identify and price additional services for review by Project Manager.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets & allocation of hours. Guides the team in understanding the clients needs and analyzes constrains in project schedule, scope, and budget to add value through proposed solutions.
  • Ensure timely deliverable submissions to Clients and Permitting Entities. Monitor the project’s process. Maintains work plan for discipline. Monitors completion of team’s deliverables against the project deadlines and the critical path.
  • Coordination with Attorney, Planner, Traffic, Civil engineer, MEP & Structural engineers as well as any other consultants involved in the project. Coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure alignment on project goals. Can be relied upon to assist the Senior Architect in client presentations on technical & design solutions. Guides the team in leveraging knowledge of planning, design delivery, and construction completion to make informed recommendations to the client.
  • Assist the team with the design process starting from concepts & sketches to final design project. Create detailed plans for the construction project. Coordinate renderings for presentations, meetings, or public hearings. Lead the creation of schematic designs, ensuring they meet client requirements and zoning regulations as needed. Ensure project deliverables for the discipline are completed at the expected quality, and within budget and schedule.
  • Present design concepts, Testfit, Pro Forma & Presentations as needed. Prepares status updates on projects via reports and communicate to leadership, internal and/or external clients.
  • Internal and external communication with consultants for 3D Renderings as needed. Directs jobsite visits, client meetings, and presentations.
  • Extensive, independent contact with clients, vendors’ representatives, and any strategic partners.
  • Leverages professional network to engage locally with the industry on thought leadership. Participates and looks for opportunities to lead in professional organizations.
  • Actively contributes to professional networks to share relevant knowledge expected from the client.
  • Strong organization skills of proposals, change orders, general scope and details. Prepare and submit required documentation for zoning applications as needed.
  • Responsible for developing new client business, and engaging in strategic planning for the department.
  • High Level Review of Architectural Design and code compliance. Responsible for the improvement of operations, increasing project efficiency and quality, and building a culture of delivering excellent client service. Leads continuous improvement efforts as requested by senior leadership.
  • Produce a set of comprehensive Schematic Documents independent from direct oversight from senior staff. Direct junior staff at different stages of the design process. Management Processes, Standards, and Implementation. Encourages a people first approach and entrepreneurial initiative in all staff. Guides the team in assessing risk management and business impact when implementing process improvement.
  • Ability to delegate and manage junior staff if required by the project. Possesses a desire for lifelong learning. Trains newly hired staff, and assists with the development of staff through day to day interactions.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure the projects stay within budget. Responsible for profitability on assigned projects.
  • Maintain Client Relationships. Builds relationship capital with clients through project work and networking events. Ensures team maintains quality of service on all assigned project.
