Job Description: The Senior Project Manager plays a leading role in the development and delivery of large-scale energy storage projects, supporting renewable energy growth and grid stability. This role combines strong technical capability, project leadership, and a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability. The Senior Project Manager leads end-to-end project execution, acting as a trusted partner to customers and stakeholders to consistently meet or exceed expectations. Reporting to the Fluence ANZ Director of Projects, this role suits an autonomous and pragmatic professional experienced in delivering large-scale EPC projects within a global, matrixed environment. Experience in energy storage is advantageous but not essential—an agile mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced, technology-led environment is key. Responsibilities Lead battery energy storage projects from early works through NTP to commissioning and handover Coordinate internal teams, contractors, and external delivery partners Build and maintain strong relationships with design, construction, and equipment partners Provide project leadership across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning Collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, senior leadership, and internal stakeholders across the full project lifecycle Lead HSEQ performance across all project phases, ensuring compliance and proactive risk management Manage project plans, changes, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives Deliver projects to time, cost, quality, and financial performance targets Ensure a smooth transition to the Fluence Service organisation at project completion Travel locally and regionally to project sites or supplier facilities as required Requirements 15+ years’ experience in the energy sector (engineering, infrastructure, and/or battery storage) 10+ years’ project management experience with full P&L accountability Degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline Proven delivery of large-scale EPC projects within the energy sector Experience managing subcontractors, contracts, and subcontract administration Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and influencing capability Commercial acumen with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail Experience working in high-performing, global, matrixed organisations Knowledge of environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements in energy projects Ability to manage competing priorities, work across cultures, travel as required, and perform under pressure Additional Requirements Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) Experience in battery energy storage (BESS) or related renewables Experience delivering HV substation and electrification projects is an advantage Experience with grid connection processes and Generator Performance Standards Our Culture At Fluence, our culture is the foundation that drives our ambitious growth strategy and fuels our mission to transform the future of energy.
