POSITION OVERVIEW
Position: Senior Project Manager | Full Time | Salaried Employee
Reporting to: General Manager; & CEO / Owner
Direct Reports: Project Managers/Project Coordinator / Field Crew
The Senior Project Manager leads, directs, and coordinates the daily management of the assigned project(s). This leadership position is accountable for the overall performance of the project, including costs, schedule, quality, project status, and adherence to company policies and procedures, while also providing oversight and strategic guidance to the entire project management team’s portfolio. In addition to delivering successful projects, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and mentoring the project management team, fostering professional development, and cultivating a high-performing, collaborative team. This is a primarily an office-based role with regular site visits required.
· Lead new project pursuits to drive Business Development initiatives.
· Manage assigned projects independently while providing mentorship and guidance to Project Managers.
· Contribute to strategic planning efforts in coordination with the leadership team.
· Oversee construction tenders, bid leveling, scope reviews, negotiations, and awards of subcontracts.
· Manage commercial construction projects from inception through completion (Pre-Construction, Construction, Post-Construction), ensuring alignment with safety, quality, budget, schedule, and profitability.
· Utilize Buildertrend to manage project setup, budget estimates, documentation, and time clocks.
· Oversee project schedules, cost reports, forecasting, and ensure all activities align with timelines; communicate updates to contractors and ensure they are contractually tied to current schedules.
· Ensure accurate production and timely approval of Subcontracts, Subcontract Change Orders, Purchase Orders, and change order processes.
· Lead and communicate with all project stakeholders—Site Managers, clients, designers, trades, architects, engineers, and landlords—to ensure effective coordination, relationship management, and issue resolution.
· Collaborate with Site Superintendents to implement and enforce safety programs and monitor quality control inspections in accordance with contract documents and approved shop drawings.
· Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assist with risk mitigation, and coordinate field activities.
· Lead and motivate the project team to uphold quality, ethical standards, and performance, including supervising and mentoring Project Managers, Coordinators, and Superintendents.
· Manage and approve proposals, budgets and contracts prepared by the project management team.
· Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
· Manage project financial commitments, review forecasting, participate in monthly financial reviews, and coordinate customer pay application processes with accounting.
· Lead project meetings including weekly internal operations, post-project Lessons Learned, and closeout meetings.
· Oversee the closeout process, including deficiency resolution, client turnover, and final documentation.
· Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, and all project stakeholders.
· Conduct regular risk reviews and participate in operational excellence initiatives.
· Share best practices with the project team and contribute to process improvements company wide.
· Additional duties as assigned.
