REQUIREMENTS

  • Third-level qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Senior Project Management role.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen, with experience in project budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of Irish building regulations, safety legislation, and construction processes.
  • Proficiency in project management software, MS Office, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Engineering background desirable.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

MMD Construction is seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Project Manager to join our expanding team in Cork. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, this role is vital to ensuring that complex construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with proven leadership, commercial awareness, and operational management skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead project planning and execution from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
  • Communicate regularly with Contracts Director and senior management on project progress, risks, and milestones.
  • Coordinate and oversee site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, quality, environmental, and BCAR regulations.
  • Manage project budgets, cash flows, and procurement in collaboration with Quantity Surveyors.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, labour resources, and material deliveries.
  • Organise and lead internal and external project meetings and produce timely reporting documentation.
  • Resolve design, construction, and logistical challenges in a proactive and collaborative manner.
  • Review and negotiate subcontractor terms, ensuring all gaps in scope are closed.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project risk register and mitigation strategy.
  • Drive quality standards across all phases of the project life cycle.
  • Ensure the timely submission of all handover documentation and closeout procedures.
