SEA1442 is a multi-phased, long-term program that is delivering an improved communications capability to selected Royal Australian Navy (RAN) platforms based on common architectures and standardised systems. SEA1442 is the lead program for future integrated communications in the maritime environment, introducing commonality, interoperability and decreasing the cost of training personnel, while networking the task group. SEA1442 Ph5 will provide selected RAN Fleet units with a new Primary and Alternate Satellite Terminal system interfaced with a suite of complementary Aggregation and Encryption (A&E), Bearer and Antenna systems in order to provide responsive, resilient and redundant delivery and dissemination of command and control related communications, enhanced situational awareness, logistics and administrative information and data. As the SEA1442 Work Pack 2 Project Manager, you are responsible for overseeing and leading cross-functional teams to successfully achieve Work Pack 2 on time, budget and within scope. The Project Manager provides strategic thinking and tactical execution through excellent problem-solving skills while managing risks and stakeholders’ expectations. Key Responsibilities: Manage and monitor progress of project scope, objectives and deliverables that align with overall project plan Develop detailed project plans, setting timelines, milestones and required resources for completion Manage a high level of complexity around engineering design, engineering review cycles and system integration. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensure clarity of roles, maintain collaboration and promote productivity. Proactively identify potential risks and develop contingency plans. Resolve project issues promptly to minimise disruption. Use relevant project management tools to track KPIs such as deadlines, budgets, and quality metrics. Create and present reports with actionable insights for management and stakeholders. Conduct regular review sessions to highlight successes and identify improvement areas. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, industry partners, to ensure alignment of project objectives and timely resolution of issues. Manage project contracts to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Monitor Prime Contractor performance and address variations, risks, and deliverable quality. Essential requirements: Qualification in Project Management or related discipline, with relevant experience in a Defence end-to-end project management role. With proven delivery of complex acquisition projects within a CASG or broader Defence environment. Demonstrated experience in project planning and execution, including scope, scheduling, and resource management. Knowledge of contract management, including monitoring compliance and contractor performance. Formal project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2 and PMBOK). Experience with ASDEFCON suite of templates, CDRL submissions Knowledge of the One Defence Capability System. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a focus on client project outcomes using advanced stakeholder engagement and client management skills. Proven leadership and/or people management experience. Australian Citizenship and current Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) security clearance, minimum NV1 with the ability to obtain and maintain NV2. Ability to work on a client site as required. Desirable requirements: Tertiary qualifications in engineering, ICT, maritime operations, or a related field Experience delivering communications or ICT modernisation projects in Defence or government environments. Familiarity with Navy operational requirements, CASG processes, and Defence Capability Life Cycle. Advanced skills in commercial management, including contract negotiation and vendor performance oversight. Proficiency in project management tools and Defence assurance methodologies.
