The City of North Vancouver’s Engineering, Parks and Environment Department is seeking a temporary full time Senior Project Manager for approximately three years. Reporting to the Manager, Public Realm Infrastructure, you will supervise the Project Management Office which leads the delivery of city shaping infrastructure in the public realm with an emphasis on sustainable transportation projects. You will lead project management process improvements to guide the consistent and successful delivery or projects. In the Sr. PM role you will:

  • Provide strategic advice to Project Mangers within the division;
  • Provide oversight of procurement, design, construction, contract management and the implementation of communication and engagement plans;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external interest holders;
  • Develop and implement internal controls for reporting to senior management;
  • Identify and proactively manage project issues and risks;
  • Lead the development of project management methodologies, standards, guidelines, tools and techniques to guide the consistent and successful delivery of projects; and,
  • Establish a multi-year work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.

Candidates must have a degree in a related discipline (eg. Architecture, Civil Engineering, Planning, Landscape Architecture) or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A PMP / Contract Administrator certification, or similar, would be advantageous. Additionally, the ideal candidate has:

  • Several years of project and construction management experience in the municipal sector and can demonstrate a track record of delivering complex, public-facing projects in an urban environment;
  • Experience in managing teams and diverse stakeholder groups, including internal and external interest holders;
  • Extensive knowledge of practices and procedures related to the design, construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure;
  • Extensive experience applying project management methodologies, practices, processes, and policies with a proven ability to innovate, lead and implement change in the workplace;
  • Ability to think strategically, manage large workloads, set priorities and multitask effectively; and,
  • Financial acumen to allow for effective planning, management, and expenditure of operational and capital costs.

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $126,516 to $147,708 (2024 rates).
