Description

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – (VARS) - ATHENS, AL

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY – The Senior Project Manager will oversee the successful execution of capital projects from initiation through completion in a heavy manufacturing environment. This position requires expertise in the FEL (Front-End Loading) process to ensure optimal project planning, risk management, and alignment with strategic business goals. The role demands the management of large-scale, complex projects, maintaining timelines, budgets, and safety standards, while driving project efficiency and stakeholder collaboration. Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage capital projects from the planning phase through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning within a heavy manufacturing setting. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Guide and implement the FEL process for all stages of capital project execution. Ensure that project scope, cost estimates, schedules, and risk management plans are robust and realistic at each FEL phase (FEL-1, FEL-2, FEL-3).
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, operations, and external vendors. Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communication with executives and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks early and develop mitigation plans to address potential issues throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, timelines, and performance metrics to ensure optimal resource allocation and prevent scope creep. Report regularly on project progress to senior leadership.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with industry regulations, standards, and company safety protocols. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work is executed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and engineering firms. Oversee procurement activities and ensure all external services are provided according to specifications and timelines.
  • Provide strategic insights for process improvements and lessons learned in project management, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce costs for future projects.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
