An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager -Technology to join a dynamic and complex digital transformation for a full-time fixed term opportunity.

  • Salary Package: From $167,814 - $197,238 (HEW Level 10) plus 17%

employer’s superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.

  • Appointment Type: Full time, fixed term until 31st December 2026
  • Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, Dharug land North Ryde

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Technology) to develop and deliver a multi-disciplinary business improvement program to support the University’s strategic business initiatives. This includes ensuring a smooth transition into the business, achieving operational acceptance, and driving benefits realisation to support the successful delivery of key IT business initiatives.
In this pivotal role, you will monitor and control program progress, proactively managing risks, issues, and dependencies while maintaining strong project governance and reporting frameworks. You will provide high-level strategic advice to stakeholders on the feasibility and suitability of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and optimal business performance.
You will collaborate with and coordinate diverse project teams, Project Managers, and University stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment across the program lifecycle. Financial oversight will be a critical component, including the development and management of budgets and procurement activities within established frameworks to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project outcomes.
The role is an excellent opportunity to lead the technology delivery for a key Program in Macquarie University’s digital transformation. You will build and lead the team and work closely with vendors. Together, you will develop and implement functionality in our new Salesforce CRM system for business functions across the University. This will help us connect more effectively and support students throughout their education.

The Student 360 Program delivers a student CRM (Salesforce) platform that will realise our ambitions for end-to-end student engagement and service delivery, and allow the University to:

  • Provide a unified, 360-degree view of each student that will enhance our ability to engage with them (including privacy protections and controls);
  • Support the transformation of business processes, providing identification of opportunities for improved services to students and support service delivery;
  • Enable context-specific services and personalisation to successfully support students throughout their journey;
  • Provide a contemporary technology platform that can evolve with the changing needs and aspirations of the University and to truly connect with our students as individuals;
  • Gain insights and analytics across the whole student journey, to provide better metrics and inform improvements of University services and experience; and
  • Replace and decommission legacy systems.

About You
You will be a self-starting individual with excellent work organisation, time management skills and ability to work under pressure. You will have extensive experience in planning and delivering medium scale projects and programs (including Salesforce) within a complex environment.
Your specific experience will include leading complex, large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes in a University or similar environment.
You will enjoy working in a dynamic environment, applying a methodical and consultative approach in your work, and be motivated to deliver work outputs that are of a consistently high quality.

  • Relevant degree and/or experience in program and project management.
  • Experience implementing Salesforce Education Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and/or Data Cloud.
  • Experience managing and implementing complex integrations over numerous implementation patterns.
  • Experience managing or overseeing CRM projects.
  • An understanding of the context and culture of the higher education sector.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or RegPM (CPPM or higher) certifications.
  • Extensive experience in planning and delivering medium scale projects and programs within a complex environment.
  • Experience in project lifecycles, from business case to final delivery.
  • Ability to effectively utilise resources in the achievement of goals, and managing conflicting priorities, deadlines, high volume and complex business and technical issues.
  • Leadership in coaching a team to work autonomously on a wide range of technology, process or cultural change projects/programs, driving staff engagement and team culture.
  • Influencing and negotiating with proven success in engaging, collaborating and influencing key stakeholders and customers at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, with experience in delivering insightful reports and presentations, as well data interpretation, to stakeholders and clients throughout the program.
  • Responding flexibly to changing circumstances in a high-pressure environment.

Desired:

  • AGILE certifications (Scrum Alliance, AgilePM, BCS Agile etc) highly regarded.
  • Expertise in implementing Agile, Lean, journey mapping, design thinking and other process optimization/innovation frameworks.
  • This position requires a criminal record check and working rights in Australia.
