Description

Thomas Global Systems is a leader in the design, manufacture and support of high-integrity aviation and defence electronics, operating out of locations in Sydney, Australia and Irvine, California.
We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Simulation & Training Solutions team and play a lead role in the delivery of a complex, multi-year defence technology development program focused on advanced simulation and training systems. You will be responsible for the full program lifecycle—from planning and execution to integration and delivery—ensuring alignment with defence standards, contractual obligations, and security requirements.
Pivotal to this role is a balance of technical program leadership, stakeholder engagement and disciplined project management to deliver the training system capability on time, within budget and to specification.
Location: on-site Sydney Olympic Park.

Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a multi-year defence simulation and training program, ensuring alignment with contractual and customer requirements.
  • Project Execution: Define scope, objectives, schedules, and resources; oversee system design, integration, testing, and milestone achievement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for defence customers and partners; build strong relationships and provide regular updates and reviews.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to defence standards (ASDEFCON, ISO, MIL-STDs), project frameworks, and security protocols including ITAR and clearance requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies; seek opportunities to improve cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls; lead multidisciplinary teams and negotiate contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote lessons learned and best practices in project management (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).
  • Innovation: Drive advancements in simulation technologies and training effectiveness to enhance program delivery.
