  • Great opportunity to join Youth Justice on a Fixed-term basis in Melbourne.
  • Lead and oversee complex strategic workforce initiatives aligned with Youth Justice’s workforce needs in response to bail reform.
  • Oversee the end-to-end management of complex workforce initiatives to achieve departmental objectives.
    Youth Justice is responsible for the statutory supervision of children and young people in contact with the criminal justice system in Victoria. Children and young people who are involved in Youth Justice are either supervised in the community, or within custodial services. Youth Justice works with children and young people to address their offending behaviour and help them achieve positive change in their lives; and works closely with families, stakeholders and service partners to promote opportunities for young people’s rehabilitation.
    Following recent amendments to bail laws in Victoria, the Youth Justice custodial system is required to respond and enact a range of high-priority workforce related projects to support a safe, skilled and stable workforce and increase our operating system capacity.
    Reporting to the Manager, Workforce Strategy and Support, the Senior Project Manager - Workforce will provide a key role in leading specific projects to deliver Youth Justice’s workforce strategy and work plan. The position will be required to develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships to ensure the coordination of expert advice to inform the implementation and change processes required to support our workforce as a result of bail reforms.

The Opportunity

  • Fixed term (2 years), full-time position based in Melbourne.
  • VPS Grade 6 role: $138,631 - $185,518 per year plus superannuation.
  • Lead high priority, high profile workforce projects in response to bail reforms in Victoria to support youth justice system priorities to including initiatives relating to workforce attraction, recruitment, learning and capability, retention, compliance and monitoring.
  • Manage all components of the project lifecycle including planning, delivery, governance, reporting against project milestones and providing senior stakeholders with expert advice relating to project thresholds and risks.
  • Closely engage with operational stakeholders in the operational environment to build relationships and knowledge to inform the effective design and delivery of workforce reforms.
  • Provide authoritative strategic and innovative advice to departmental executives and Ministers on complex and potentially sensitive matters in relation to workforce and other related matters.
Responsibilities
  • Experience leading complex strategic projects, governance, compliance and monitoring
  • Experience working with Human resources management and/or legislative and industrial relations frameworks
  • Experience working collaboratively within a broader team of multidisciplinary project and policy managers and specialist technical experts
  • Understanding of Victorian government administrative processes is desirable
  • A relevant qualification in public policy, human resources, law or other relevant fields is desirable
