    The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Project Officer (Communications and Strategy) to provide a critical role at the Adult Parole Board.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • A tertiary qualification in communications and/or extensive experience working in a similar role is essential.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Secretariat that supports the Board is comprised of staff from the Department of Justice and Community Safety. The Senior Project Officer (Communications and Strategy) is a member of the Secretariat and reports to the Secretariat’s Chief Administrative Officer.

As the Senior Project Officer (Communications and Strategy), some of your duties will include:

  • Proactively identify emerging opportunities and issues that may impact the Board’s reputation and provide strategic advice on communications to the Chief Administrative Officer and Chairperson.
  • Developing and implementing communication projects to support the Secretariat’s strategic business plan to deliver effective communication outcomes for the Board and Secretariat.
  • Managing a high volume of email and hard copy correspondence to and from the Board, in consultation with the Board’s Executive Committee member portfolio holder.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Excellent writing skills with great attention to detail, strong proofing skills and the ability to mentor others to promote a culture of writing excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality information and advice to senior staff on complex communication issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and proofing material for print and digital media for complex and sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communication projects that deliver effective outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and strengthening mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders
