    The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Project Officer to provide a critical role at Western Plains Correctional Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant project management, policy and/or legal qualifications or equivalent experience are highly desirable.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be a key contributor in the operational readiness work of the new correctional facility, participating in the development of operating processes, developing services and procedures.
In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of projects aimed at preparing to guide the facility into frontline operations. You will be required to interpret a complex operating and legislative environment and develop high quality policies, briefs and reports to maximise opportunities to efficiently improve operational outcomes.
When the project team in place at Western Plains Correctional Centre is no longer required this role will sit in the Integrated Performance Management Systems team, part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, a team dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners. In additional to project related work the role will support work required to maintain the accuracy of the facilities procedural documentation.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Create and maintain templates and tools, systems and processes for the timely delivery of accurate and high-quality reports and business cases.
  • Plan, co-ordinate, document and manage a range of projects that enhance operational outcomes.
  • Develop high quality briefs to senior management on service demands and delivery trends to support policy development and service planning.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to plan, monitor and deliver complex service development projects within a legislative framework.
  • Experience in the preparation of policies, reports and briefs along with highly developed information analysis and conceptual thinking.
  • Strong understanding of Project Management methodology.
  • Demonstrated capability to undertake project management and coordination of tasks and provide secretariat support
