Valmet Pulp & Energy business line delivers comprehensive solutions for pulp mills and process equipment for both chemical and mechanical pulp production. We also provide biomass- and waste-fueled power plants, boiler islands, and related environmental systems. Our primary customers are pulp producers and power and heat producers.
We are seeking a Senior Project Planner to join our Project Management Office team. This role can be based in our offices in Tampere, Ulvila, Vantaa, or Raisio.

Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE AS A SENIOR PROJECT PLANNER

As a Senior Project Planner, you will play a crucial role in supporting project teams by managing schedules and tracking project progress. You will master our planning tools and provide training and support to other users, ensuring optimal use and development of our tools and processes. Collaborating closely with Project Managers, project teams, site teams, and subcontractors, you will facilitate smooth project execution by sharing and obtaining critical information.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and analyze baseline schedules, resource plans, manpower histograms, and progress S-curves.
  • Support the Project Manager in budget maintenance and cost reporting.
  • Assist in risk, claim, and change management processes.
  • Knowledge of forensic scheduling analysis: This involves retrospective analysis of project schedules to identify delays, disruptions, and accelerations. It includes examining the schedule for earlier or later completion, determining the impact of changes, and assigning responsibility for delays and associated costs.
  • Continuously develop and improve planning methods and processes.
  • Maintain detailed project schedules, covering engineering, procurement, logistics, and site activities.
  • Track project progress, analyze deviations, and propose and monitor recovery plans in collaboration with project management.
  • Ensure all project team members understand their responsibilities and contribute to maintaining the project baseline.
  • Manage vendor relationships, facilitating communication between project management and clients.
  • Identify potential concerns, escalate when necessary, and monitor resolutions.
  • Coordinate the planning and scheduling for multi-unit projects with a team of project planners.
  • Identify, maintain, and continuously update the critical path throughout the project lifecycle.
You will independently manage complex projects and provide valuable insights to improve existing processes. Your role includes responding to internal and customer inquiries, mentoring junior planners, and influencing best practices across Valmet P&E.
With experience, you will be expected to propose process improvements and contribute to enhancing our tools and ways of working.
