Location: ORLANDO, FLORIDA (IN-OFFICE) Job Summary:  Trileaf is seeking a full-time Senior Project Scientist to conduct field work to conduct migratory bird evaluations, gopher tortoise surveys, and wetland delineations in Florida.  This position is based in our Maitland, (Orlando) Florida office.  Essential Job Functions: * Perform Gopher Tortoise surveys and any necessary permitting. * Perform ecological field investigations for wetlands inventories and any necessary permitting with state/local agencies such as water management districts and federal agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers. * Gathering, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data. * Assist in preparing reports in support of projects, including protected species and natural habitat assessments, environmental impacts, and biological evaluations. * Perform routine and sometimes complex tasks related to field data collection, including preparing and transcribing field notes. * Ability to conduct a preliminary screening of listed and/or proposed threatened and endangered species and critical habitat. * Reviewing publicly available databases such as the National Wetlands Inventory and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Maps. Basic Qualifications: To be considered, the resume of the applicant must demonstrate the following qualifications/skills: * Attention to detail * Strong work ethic * Valid driver's license * Ability to conduct field work * Ability and willingness to travel (3-4 days a week) * Good computer skills * Independent worker  * Commitment to excellence Preferred Qualifications / Experience: * Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent * Wetland delineations, permitting, and mitigation * Stream determinations, permitting * Biological assessments and terrestrial surveys * Protected/listed species surveys and monitoring * Ecological habitat surveys/assessment * Avian surveys * Regulatory agency permitting * GPS data collection and mapping support * ArcGIS online mapping and data collection applications * Planning and leading benthic/marine resource surveys and preparing benthic/marine resource survey reports * National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessments Education:  Bachelor’s degree or higher in biology, ecology, environmental science, forestry, physical or natural sciences, or related fields Benefits: * Health, Dental & Vision Insurance * 401k w/matching * Short-term disability, Long-term disability & Life Insurance – 100% Employer paid * 3 weeks of PTO per year * 8 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday The listed salary range for this position is an expected range.
