Description

SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT

Ready to level up your accounting career in the dynamic world of property management?
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and results-driven Senior Property Accountant to join a fast-paced environment where your financial expertise will directly support real estate operations. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring lease accuracy, financial reporting, and operational compliance, all while collaborating across departments and mentoring junior talent.
If you’re a proactive, organized professional who thrives on structure, but can pivot with agility, this role might be your next big move.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Interpret complex lease agreements to extract billing terms, recoverable charges, rent escalations, and other financial obligations.
  • Handle monthly and year-end financial close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and statement reviews.
  • Partner with leasing and property management teams to stay on top of tenant updates and lease modifications.
  • Manage preparation of 13th period invoices and other recurring property billings.
  • Perform CAM reconciliations, ensuring accurate tenant adjustments at year-end.
  • Maintain a precise and compliant general ledger through ongoing reconciliation and oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to collect and consolidate financial data for reporting and audits.
  • Assist with audit preparation, including schedules and inquiry responses for both internal and external reviews.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning cycles.
  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes and support implementation of workflow enhancements.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants and accounting technicians.

What You Bring

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation (completed or in progress) is an asset.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CAM reconciliations and 13th period invoicing.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP or IFRS principles.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with platforms like Yardi, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Why This Role?
This is more than just a numbers job, it’s an opportunity to make a real impact in how financial operations support property performance. You’ll gain exposure to complex portfolios, work alongside experienced professionals, and grow within a stable and evolving industry.
If you’re ready to bring your property accounting expertise to a role where it truly matters, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and take the next step in your professional journey
