Wesgroup is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join our dynamic team and play a key role in managing the financial performance of our income producing property portfolio. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Review monthly property financial statements and provide feedback on accuracy, completeness, and technical accounting concepts.
  • Prepare monthly operational reporting packages and journal entries for assigned properties.
  • Analyze budget variances to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare financial reporting to satisfy lender requirements.
  • Generate monthly rent roll packages and GST reconciliations/remittances.

Team Collaboration

  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to the IPP team.
  • Supervise the month-end, quarter-end, and annual property close processes.
  • Oversee the IPP team during the accounting manager’s absence, with support from other senior accountants.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to align with industry best practices.

Property Accounting & Compliance

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties.
  • Investigate and resolve issues or concerns raised by stakeholders.
  • Prepare year-end CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, and working paper files.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities for assigned properties.
  • Prepare multi-year budgets and reforecasts for assigned portfolio.

Ad-Hoc Projects

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as they arise, contributing insights and expertise to cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in property management accounting.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and improve accounting policies and procedures.
  • Strong lease interpretation and cost reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop creative and strategic solutions to issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to build relationships.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager 7S is an asset.
