As demand accelerates in the Engineering Services sector, we are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to drive strategic growth from our entire UK&I service offering. Key Aspects of the Role We are looking for an experienced Bid Manager to be part of our very successful Market Pursuits team in the UK. You will lead and manage our strategic pursuits, working with the Market Pursuits Directors, key account/client managers and business area directors in positioning/pursuit through to bid. You will have oversight and own the ‘win plan’, organise and bring together pursuit/bid teams and lead PQQ/Tender stages, linking quality and cost. You will provide challenge and rigour to the bid process, implementing a best practice approach that will be shared across the UK&I business. You will be filling a senior role in the UK Market Pursuits team (MPT); a central team covering Buildings, Energy, Environment & Health and Transport Markets. The team works directly on Ramboll UK’s most important strategic bids, but at the same time has built a centre of excellence providing the ‘go to’ place for all our bids where we have access to our best material. You will play a critical role in supporting Ramboll growth ambitions, and successfully delivering our ongoing strategy to be ‘The Partner for Sustainable Change’. Your key responsibilities will be: Partnering with relevant Market Owner/Key Account manager to position, plan, lead, and manage the pursuit of a specific client opportunity, through all phases of the overall pursuit process including positioning, expression of interest, qualification, proposal/bid, and interview Lead and develop Pursuit Win Plan including Value Proposition, potential partnering strategy, market intelligence, competitor analysis etc, to generate a winning position Act as the challenger or healthy sceptic in evaluating data and assumptions promoted by the Business Owner or Key Account Manager to ensure compliance with win plan/strategies and communicates when the process is failing/where a win would be in jeopardy Support Governance process including development of supporting material for decision gates Lead the Ramboll PQQ, proposal and interview production process, including facilitating development of sales messages and themes, ensuring process compliance and integration between quality and price Assist in managing the pursuit budget by developing and managing budgets for deliverables in all pursuit phases Manage all aspects of the pursuit team, including stakeholders and technical input, resource selection process, proposal coordinators, graphic design and DP team and coordinates quality and commercial response Oversee content development for all sections, including technical input, and ensures all sections are consistent with win strategy Conduct periodic status meetings with the proposal team and communicates relevant client data across the team About You We are looking a commercially minded leader with a strong track record of managing complex bids in the public and private sectors. You will ideally have: Proven experience in Bid/Pursuit management in similar business sectors/industry with evidence of leading significant/strategic pursuits within the UK and/or overseas Understanding and experience of applying best practice pursuit/bid process (e.g. Shipley) and of sharing best practice with others Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to ‘bring people along’ Ability to build internal and external relationships effectively across sector and hierarchy Significant proposal planning management and development experience Proposal writing skills to know ‘what good looks like’ An understanding of delivering projects for clients – either from firsthand experience, or through working closely with project teams on pursuit and bidding activities. Ability to multi-task, delegate and work well under pressure Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include: Enjoying being part of a team but equally being comfortable working ‘remotely’.
