About the role As a Senior Python Test Automation Engineer – Medical Devices, you will make an impact by designing and developing automation frameworks and pipelines that support continuous integration and testing of complex medical systems. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering and Assurance team and work collaboratively with onsite R&D teams, software developers, and systems engineers. In this role, you will: Design test frameworks and automation pipelines to support continuous integration. Develop Python-based test scripts to enable system-level testing. Interface with tools such as National Instruments (NI) PXI for data acquisition. Execute automated test scripts and log results into Cognition Cockpit or similar platforms. Develop test cases to automate system requirements and ensure traceability. Support design documentation and engineering change processes. Collaborate closely with onsite R&D teams to define requirements and implement testing tools. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Andover, MA or Austin, TX. What you need to have to be considered: Proven experience in developing Python-based automation frameworks and scripts. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus. 7+ years in test automation, with 2–4 years in a technical leadership role. Experience in medical device development and testing. Strong understanding of software verification and validation processes. These will help you stand out: Familiarity with C/C++ for embedded systems testing. Experience with Electrosurgical, RF-based technologies, or other complex medical device equipment. Proficiency with automation tools such as VectorCast, LDRA, Ceedling, Unity, CMock, Tessy, or similar. Experience with coverage analysis tools (e.g., statement, branch, MC/DC). Knowledge of static code analysis tools like SonarQube, Coverity, or Klocwork.
