Description
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer (m/f/d), you'll be joining Libra to help legal and compliance professionals enhance productivity, mitigate risk, and solve complex problems confidently. There are hundreds of thousands of lawyers across Europe — and at Libra, we're transforming how they work. Our AI platform combines deep legal reasoning with cutting-edge generative technology, fundamentally changing how lawyers research, draft, and deliver legal work. About the role We're looking for an exceptional QA Automation Engineer to join our fast-growing engineering team. You'll lead a small but high-leverage QA function on a team where every engineer owns the quality of their own work — and your job is to make that scale. You'll design and own the automated testing framework, the CI pipeline, and the AI-assisted tooling that lets the whole team ship with confidence. You'll write the complex, cross-cutting end-to-end tests yourself, and you'll multiply the impact of every feature engineer through the framework, patterns, and tooling you build for them. This is a high-ownership role at the intersection of testing, developer experience, and AI tooling — an unusually broad mandate for someone who wants to define how a fast-moving legal AI product stays trustworthy as it grows. You'll be part of a highly skilled technology organization and a fast-growing product organization. An ambitious and thrilling place to be as you'll be essential to both strategic alignment and local execution. You'll be working at the vibrant Merantix AI Campus in Berlin, surrounded by a community of AI innovators. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a bias toward action. What you'll do Own, evolve, and continuously improve the automated test framework that the entire engineering team builds on. Design and build the end-to-end and integration tests for our most complex, cross-cutting flows — the ones individual feature engineers shouldn't be writing alone. Pair with and coach engineers on test design for larger features — review their test plans, unblock them on tricky cases, raise the bar through example. Build out continuous testing in CI: modern pipelines with parallelism, fast feedback, and a trustworthy signal — including the quality gates that block merges and deployments. Lead the integration of AI-powered testing tools and background agents into the pipeline — for test generation, regression detection, flakiness triage, and self-healing suites. Establish testing patterns for non-deterministic features — LLM responses, RAG retrieval, async Celery pipelines, real-time SSE streams — that stay stable as models and prompts evolve. What you'll bring Education Bachelor's degree preferred in Software Engineering or a related technical field. Experience Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, with substantial focus on test automation and CI infrastructure. Strong proficiency with Python (pytest, async) and TypeScript (Playwright or equivalent end-to-end framework). Deep CI/CD experience on a modern platform — GitHub Actions or similar — including parallelism, caching, matrix builds, and cost-aware pipeline design. Hands-on experience using AI coding agents like Cursor or Claude Code, and a clear point of view on how to apply them to testing workflows. Proven experience testing distributed, asynchronous, eventually-consistent systems with queues, external APIs, and real-time components. Bonus: You've built test infrastructure or evaluation harnesses for LLM-powered products. Skills Developer-experience mindset — you optimize for the engineers who use your framework, not for your own preferences. Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and urgency. A pragmatic approach to problem solving. You know what *not* to automate, and you're willing to kill tests that aren't earning their keep. Communicates risk and quality in terms the business understands, not bug counts. Excellent communication in English; German is a plus. Working together This is a hybrid role, where you will spend at least eight days a month at our office, where you'll enjoy the benefits of connecting and collaborating with your colleagues in person. What we offer Permanent employment day one. Remote work & flexibility: Work remotely up to 3 days per week (home office) (= 8 days a month in the office) with flexible working hours. Work abroad flexibly: Work from anywhere within the EU for up to 20 days within a twelve-month period. Rest & time off: 26 vacation days. Show your commitment: 1 additional day off per year for your volunteer work (Volunteer Day). Support for development: E-learning via LinkedIn, online language training with goFluent, and other training and development opportunities. In just over a year, we've established ourselves as Europe's fastest-growing legal AI company by partnering with leading law firms, corporate legal departments, and publishers. Libra is building the operating system for modern legal work — and you can help us write its next chapter. #LI-Hybrid Our Interview Practices To maintain a fair and genuine hiring process, we kindly ask that all candidates participate in interviews without the assistance of AI tools or external prompts.
