Amsterdam - As a Senior QA Engineer within Publishing Services, you will take full ownership of quality within one of our product domains and help improve testing and release processes across the team. We are looking for a hands-on QA Engineer with a strong sense of ownership and excellent communication skills. Publishing Services builds shared products for DPG Media brands such as AD, de Volkskrant, HLN, NU.nl, Libelle and Flair. Our domains include Audio, Video, Games, Search and Recommendations.
What will you do?
You’ll take full ownership of our end-to-end testing strategy and release readiness, ensuring our mobile and web applications remain reliable, scalable, and top-tier.
- Strategy & Release Ownership: Own the domain QA process and test strategy from planning through release, coordinating release readiness, risk assessments, go/no-go decisions, and post-release validation.
- Hands-On & Automated Testing: Perform manual, regression, integration, and release testing for mobile native apps and web, while building and maintaining automated test suites using Appium, Espresso, and XCUITest.
- Proactive Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify quality risks, drive process improvements, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with developers, product owners, UX specialists, and QA engineers, speaking up when quality is at risk and clearly communicating status, risks, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What makes you the ideal candidate?
You have at least five years of QA experience, a proactive ownership mindset, and a deep technical background in frameworks like Appium, Espresso, and XCUITest.
- A strong ownership mindset to independently drive quality topics, organize QA activities, improve processes, and coordinate releases smoothly.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively influence stakeholders, clarify risks, and align the team on priorities.
- Broad testing expertise spanning manual and automated practices across mobile, web, and APIs, including building maintainable end-to-end, integration, and regression test suites.
- Hands-on tech stack proficiency with Appium, TypeScript, Espresso, XCUITest, and BrowserStack.
- Practical CI/CD experience, ideally using GitHub Actions.
Nice to have
- You have experience with media products, content management systems or publishing workflows.
- Known with contract or API testing.
- Hands-on expertise with observability, performance, accessibility or security.
- A strong background working in platform engineering, SDK development, or shared-services environments.
