REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Experience in QA Engineering: 7-10+ years
  • Test planning and manual testing: 7-10+ years
  • Linux OS: 5+ years
  • Light Linux admin, including packages, installs, upgrades and file system management
  • Software Backup Application Technology, Data & File Storage: 5+ years
  • Database experience (structure, creation, backups, encryption, administration): 5+ years
  • Server and Virtual Machine experience
  • Familiar with REST APIs and testing tools such as Postman and cURL
  • Bash – Shell scripting and or SSH Command line operation: 3+ years
  • Python: 1+ year
  • Agile Development methodology
  • Strong Interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Enjoys working in a challenging and highly collaborative environment.
  • Able to accommodate the time zone differences required to work with teams in the US and Asia

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

Index Engines has an outstanding career opportunity for principal level Quality Assurance Test Engineers. The candidate will be responsible for testing compatibility between Index Engines’ software applications with versions of various storage products and backup applications (Dell Avamar, PPDM, Networker; Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum, Commvault Simpana) and their agents. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the software backup applications, i.e. upgrading the systems to the latest software version, keeping licenses up to date and working with various operating systems. The Index Engine product is developed and tested in a Linux environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as a member of a scrum team that tests interoperability between Index Engines cyber security product and various storage products, backup applications and their agents, and Linux OS distributions.
  • Work with product owner and other team members to understand the testing requirements
  • Write and or execute comprehensive test plans regarding compatibility testing for the backup applications
  • Generate data and backups required for testing backup applications making use of databases, virtual machines and file systems
  • Research via the web and keep servers, operating systems, agents, and backup applications current regarding upgrading to their latest version
  • Support and perform QA testing on the application and be experienced with testing databases from different perspectives
