Description

About the role:

True Protein is seeking a Senior QA Specialist to take ownership of our quality function and contribute to the continued growth and success of our organisation. This hands-on role is pivotal in ensuring our products meet or exceed the highest industry standards, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of quality excellence across the site.

As a key member in our Product Innovation & Technical Affairs Team, you will drive the day-to-day priorities of the QA function, ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the highest quality standards across the site.

It is a full-time role, onsite 5 days per week with flexible hours.

What your day to day will look like:

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Maintain and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) in line with GMP, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
  • Own the full quality lifecycle: product release, deviations, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, customer complaints, and out-of-spec results.
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and maintenance of batch documentation, protocols, validation records, and controlled documents to support GMP compliance and traceability.

Internal Audits & Supplier Quality

  • Lead and support internal, external, and supplier audits and regulatory inspections, following through on corrective actions.
  • Manage vendor qualification and supplier quality assurance activities.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

  • Align QA priorities with broader business and departmental goals, adjusting focus as needs evolve.
  • Review and refine our Food Safety & Quality Plan to keep it fit for purpose as the business grows.
  • Lead root cause investigations and risk assessments, and propose practical, risk-based solutions.
  • Track and report on quality metrics and KQIs, providing guidance across the team.

Operational QA

  • Perform in-process quality assurance (IPQA) activities to ensure product and process compliance.
  • Oversee product handling, storage, distribution, retention samples, and site calibration programs.
  • Oversee product testing programs (microbiological, physical, chemical).

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field highly regarded; equivalent hands-on QA experience will also be highly valued.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in food and beverage manufacturing, with hands-on QA experience.
  • Proven experience managing deviations, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Solid working knowledge of FSANZ, HACCP, GMP, and other relevant quality accreditation frameworks.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing technical documentation, including product specifications, artwork, and compliance documents.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a track record of managing competing priorities.
