WHAT WILL YOUR ROLE LOOK LIKE?
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Actuarial Public business unit - the largest provider of consulting services for the Local Government Pensions Scheme. You’ll join the digital team, which focuses on designing and delivering platforms and processes that empower the wider consulting business to make effective use of data.
As a confident and experienced quality test engineer, you’ll take a pragmatic yet structured approach to designing and developing test frameworks. Working within the Actuarial Public Client Applications Team, you’ll apply your expertise in test automation and adopt a shift-left mindset to enhance the robustness and efficiency of our delivery processes.
Our software teams are passionate about innovation, and you’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest Microsoft tools and technologies on Azure, using agile methodologies to deliver high-quality solutions.
We are open to considering candidates on a part time or full-time basis.
THOUGH THIS IS A VARIED ROLE, YOUR KEY TASKS WILL INCLUDE:
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test frameworks across diverse programming environments and platforms
- Applying a shift-left approach to introduce automated testing early in the delivery lifecycle
- Ensuring robust build and release pipelines through high levels of automated test coverage
- Influencing development approaches and testing strategies for digital initiatives
- Staying current with the latest Quality Assurance tools, techniques, and practices
- Mentoring and supporting quality analysts in developing test automation skills
- Adhering to the firm’s Information Security standards, policies, and procedures
- Contributing to expert groups and knowledge-sharing initiatives
TO ENJOY AND SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:
- Strong experience in automated software testing, including:
- Functional testing using Cypress and Selenium
- Testing strategies for data-heavy and large batch processing workloads
- Non-functional testing (e.g., usability, reliability, compatibility, portability)
- Experience working in complex, regulatory environments
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, ideally using Angular, TypeScript, C#, and .NET
- Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, Jest, and NUnit
- Experience integrating automated tests into release pipelines (preferably using ADO YAML pipelines)
- Background in agile software delivery, ideally within Scrum and BDD environments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Confidence working across the full Software Development Lifecycle, including production issue resolution
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for team-based problem solving
- Self-motivation and a passion for continuous learning and knowledge sharing
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving technologies and working practices
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certification (preferred)
