ROLE PURPOSE


The Quality Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, EASA, and customer-specific requirements. This role directs all quality assurance initiatives, from auditing and inspections to corrective actions and training, and acts as a key driver of continuous improvement across the organization.


Responsibilities


  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company s QMS in alignment with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure all procedures comply with FAA, EASA, and industry regulations.
  • Lead internal and external audits: prepare documentation, host auditors, and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final product inspections to ensure all deliverables meet technical and contractual specifications.
  • Mentor and manage a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
  • Use Six Sigma, Lean, and root cause methodologies to resolve non-conformities.
  • Analyze quality KPIs to detect trends, reduce defect rates, and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Present quality metrics and improvement plans to executive leadership and customers.
  • Design and deliver QMS training programs across departments.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field (Master s degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in quality roles, with 3+ years in the aerospace or aviation industry.
  • Proven leadership in managing QMS in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, and EASA standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance in certified environments, ideally involving design or production under 14 CFR Part 21 (FAA) or EASA Part 21 frameworks or similar.
  • Audit lead experience and strong knowledge of CAPA, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with calibration systems, quality software tools, and document control systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality software (e.g., IQS, EtQ, MasterControl, or similar).
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Preferred Skills


  • Experience working within Part 21 organizations, particularly those approved under Subpart G (Production Organization Approval) or Subpart J (Design Organization Approval).
  • Proven experience engaging with aviation authorities such as the FAA, EASA, or Military Airworthiness Authorities during audits, certification processes, or regulatory submissions.
  • Practical knowledge of certification projects, including involvement in TC/STC, PMA, POA/DOA activities, or airworthiness review boards.
  • Familiarity with NADCAP requirements and special process certification audits.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing and quality assurance processes, including CNC machining, composites fabrication, and mechanical assembly.
  • Understanding and application of AS9145 (APQP & PPAP) in aerospace and defense manufacturing.
  • Ability to obtain and retain security clearance, if required.
