OVERVIEW

Atkins Search have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK’s leading construction contractors, to join their growing Commercial team in the Midlands. Based between sites across the Midlands and the Leicester HQ, you will be responsible the commercial delivery of large-scale projects ranging from £10m to £50m across various sectors.

Responsibilities

ROLE

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for supporting the commercial management of multiple large projects, one at a time, supported by a team of Assistant and Quantity Surveyors.
This role involves the commercial oversight of high-value, complex schemes from start to finish, ensuring cost control and contractual compliance. Experience in managing similar-sized projects for principal contractors is preferable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a key point of contact for the Regional Director/Manager and Commercial Manager, implementing instructions and keeping them informed.
  • Ensure timely submission of data to support monthly and quarterly contract performance reviews.
  • Liaise daily with Contracts Managers to support the commercial management of projects and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Prepare and review draft sub-contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior members of the commercial team.
  • Work with contract managers to issue all necessary notices and submissions under the terms of various contracts.
  • Ensure payment applications include relevant variations and claims and assist with the preparation of final accounts.
  • Support Contracts Managers in monitoring sub-contractor performance to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Manage the regular submission of main contract payment applications and assist with prompt cash collection.
  • Prepare sub-contractor payments in line with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Assist with dispute avoidance and resolution processes.
  • Lead meetings and represent the commercial team when required.
  • Hold line management responsibility for members of the commercial team
