SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + company car/car allowance & benefits package

I’m partnered with a leading main contractor and I’m supporting them with their search for a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Newcastle. You’ll be working on Northumbrian Water Group’s (NWG) strategic infrastructure upgrade programme, a massive five-year investment plan to improve the local water and sewer network across the North East. YOUR EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in a commercial role within the civil engineering industry.
  • A strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
  • Experience in commercial management and the procurement of subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor on this program, you will play a key role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of large-scale civil engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on cost planning and commercial strategy.
  • Managing cost control across the full project lifecycle.
  • Providing commercial support to the project team.
  • Ensuring robust, accurate, and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit levels.
  • Managing the procurement of subcontractors, including negotiation and financial accounting.
  • Advising on contractual claims and disputes.
  • Administering NEC contracts and other forms of contract.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior Quantity Surveyors.
