ABOUT THE ROLE / ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

Join us as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and take on the responsibility of planning and managing the end-to-end commercial management of large subcontracts and self-performed works. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing leadership and ensuring project commercial outcomes are delivered. From participating in scope planning to managing subcontractor relationships, this role offers a diverse range of responsibilities in a dynamic environment. If you are a proactive and experienced professional in quantity surveying, this role is for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE / WHAT YOU WILL DO;

  • Plan and manage end-to-end commercial management of large subcontracts and self-performed works
  • Participate in scope planning, maximize cost efficiencies, consider subcontractor capabilities
  • Prepare procurement strategies, identify potential subcontractors, and manage timing
  • Provide management and leadership to other commercial roles
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and stay updated on market conditions
  • Assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, escalate issues when needed
  • Support self-perform works and assist in dispute resolution processes
  • Ensure accurate cost forecasting and escalate cost issues as necessary
  • Manage subcontracts through all phases, including claims/variations processing and closeout
  • Operate and maintain commercial and contract systems
  • Ensure compliance with Building Code and report non-compliances
  • Prepare periodic and ad hoc reporting on commercial performance
  • Assist with Head Contract administration as required
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS KEY ROLE, YOU MUST HAVE / WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR;

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience as a Contracts Administrator or Quantity Surveyor in the construction and engineering industry
  • Experience in all stages of subcontract management, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations management, completion, and closeout
  • Site-based engineering or construction experience
  • Experience with a variety of project values and complexity, including large, technically complex works packages
  • Strong commercial acumen and awareness in areas of cost management and contract law
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry market conditions and movements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage commercial negotiations
  • Awareness and compliance with document control and records management procedures
