Senior Quantity Surveyor Department: Commercial & Contracts Department Division: Nass Contracting Location: Bahrain Role Summary The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all pre- and post-contract commercial and quantity surveying activities for construction projects. The role ensures accurate measurement, valuation, cost control, contract administration, claims management, and commercial risk mitigation while maximizing project profitability. The position works closely with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to ensure successful commercial delivery of projects. Key Responsibilities Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of assigned projects. Support Project Managers in maximizing project profitability and identifying entitlement to variations, claims, extensions of time, and additional payments. Prepare, review, and administer subcontract agreements, bid evaluations, payments, bonds, insurances, and final accounts. Prepare and monitor Contract Cost Value Reconciliations (CCVR), project forecasts, cash flows, valuations, and financial reports. Measure works, evaluate variations, prepare claims, and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors. Monitor project costs, budgets, and commercial performance to ensure financial targets are achieved. Identify and manage commercial risks, contractual issues, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare and manage insurance claims and commercial correspondence. Coordinate with project, finance, procurement, and construction teams on commercial matters. Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual requirements, and reporting deadlines. Lead and mentor Quantity Surveyors within the team. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and verify quantities. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry. At least 6 years of relevant GCC experience. Proven experience in building and/or civil engineering projects. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, commercial management, and quantity surveying practices. Excellent understanding of measurement techniques, valuations, claims, variations, and final accounts. Ability to lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors. Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of project cost control, forecasting, and risk management. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Proficiency in contract administration and commercial reporting. Willingness to work both in office and site environments while complying with HSE requirements.
