Description

SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR – GROUNDWORKS & HOUSING PROJECTS (IMMEDIATE START)

Location: Covering live sites from Cambridge to Letchworth
Type: Full-time, Immediate Start
Benefits: Fuel expenses paid

OVERVIEW

Our client is a well-established groundworks and concrete contractor, operating primarily across the South East of the UK. Their services include groundworks, basements, RC frames, drainage, tanks, paving, and external works. Working across multiple sectors, they focus on large-scale industrial developments and affordable housing schemes.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will cover 3–4 live housing projects located between Cambridge and Letchworth. This is an exciting opportunity for a SQS with groundworks experience to take ownership of early-stage project delivery and gain exposure to high-profile schemes in the region.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3–5 years of experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within groundworks, civil engineering, or housing development.
  • Degree qualified (e.g., BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard industry software.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
  • Support the commercial team in the cost management and financial control of multiple live groundworks housing schemes.
  • Assist with tendering, procurement, and cost planning processes.
  • Prepare and monitor accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports.
  • Ensure financial aspects of projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Track and value variations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, clients, and subcontractors to resolve any commercial issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date contract documentation and financial records.
  • Contribute to forecasting, reporting, and the smooth delivery of all contractual obligations.
