Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role in managing the commercial functions on our complex gas projects. You will act as a key member of the commercial team, supporting the Commercial Manager to deliver profitable, efficient, and compliant outcomes. This is a hands-on role where you’ll oversee financial and contractual performance, lead subcontract procurement and management, and build strong relationships with clients and partners. Key Responsibilities: Lead the commercial delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with company, client, and contractual requirements. Take ownership of cost control, valuations, forecasting, and cash flow to maximise financial performance. Manage the procurement and performance of subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiation and agreement of packages, interim valuations, and final accounts. Ensure timely submission and agreement of client valuations, variations, and compensation events. Oversee risk management processes, including Early Warning Notices and claims Provide contractual advice and support dispute resolution. Provide clear commercial advice to operations and project teams, supporting delivery against budget and KPI targets. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders. Collaborate on bids when necessary, supporting the work winning function. Support and mentor junior surveyors, driving high standards across the commercial team and conducting performance reviews. Continuously seek improvements in process and performance, driving value for both the business and our clients. Qualifications BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying. Professional membership preferable (e.g. RICS). Established background in commercial roles, preferably in gas pipelines or heavy civils. Strong NEC3 / 4 experience Strong legal/contractual and financial acumen. Excellent negotiation, communication, and data analysis skills. Proven ability to manage client negotiations, subcontract relationships, and project financials. Valid driving licence.
