FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Firmware Engineer to lead the design and development of embedded firmware platforms for next-generation diagnostic devices. You will drive the technical strategy, own critical subsystems, and ensure systems meet the highest standards of performance, security, and compliance.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Lead the design and implementation of custom embedded Linux platforms and OEM modules for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Define and implement software frameworks for advanced connectivity, including BLE and emerging wireless technologies.
  • Develop strategies for the complete software lifecycle, including secure boot, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and robust deployment practices.
  • Guide engineers on embedded Linux and real-time system development, ensuring code quality and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software integration issues across the system stack.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in software, cybersecurity, hardware, and systems engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Lead software documentation and verification planning to comply with FDA regulations and ISO 13485 / 21 CFR 820 quality standards.
  • Maintain clear and accessible documentation for cross-functional use.
  • Make key decisions on firmware structure, technology stack, and implementation strategies.
  • Drive initiatives to ensure firmware performance, reliability, and security.
  • Standardize development processes and use metrics to optimize efficiency.
  • Champion quality initiatives and contribute to process improvement programs.
  • Promote collaboration across engineering disciplines and functions.

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, or equivalent education and hands-on experience.
  • Background in signal acquisition/analysis, wireless technologies (e.g., BLE, location-aware), and system-level embedded security.
  • Experience with embedded graphics/display frameworks is a plus.
  • Expertise in building/customizing embedded Linux systems.
  • Deep understanding of Linux kernel, device drivers, and hardware abstraction layers on custom boards.
  • Strong experience with ARM-based SoCs or System-on-Modules (SoMs).
  • Proficiency in modern C++ and system design for multi-process applications.
  • Proven track record delivering connected products with advanced BLE functionality.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical device software development (FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mid- and senior-level firmware engineers.
  • Lead by example in decision-making, system planning, and quality enforcement.

Salary Range: $125k-$160k/yr
