REFY are looking for a Senior R&D Formulator to lead formulation development and help create world-first, innovative products that align with our mission to simplify beauty.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

• BSc Degree in: Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Cosmetic Science, Biotechnology or Biochemistry.
• Knowledge of Cosmetic Ingredients and Formulation: a good understanding of common cosmetic ingredients (e.g., emulsifiers, preservatives, active ingredients) and their roles in product formulations is essential. Experience with or knowledge of basic cosmetic chemistry will help carry out effective product development and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing multiple formulation projects across global suppliers/manufacturers in colour cosmetics and/or skincare

• Good awareness of beauty market, consumer trends and competitors
• Clear communicator with strong stakeholder management and cross -functional collaborations skills.

• Leading formulation research, innovation and development with ingredient suppliers and manufacturers to develop innovative, patentable finished product concepts from initial concept to production for formula and componentry.
• Writing product briefs and sampling in house and with external suppliers, meeting all development deadlines.
• Working collaboratively with the PD & Marketing Team to develop shades with a strong understanding of pigment selection, shade inclusivity, and complexion matching.
• Presenting product concepts to internal and external stakeholders and community.
• Leading internal & external user trials and focus groups to test product performance prior to formula approval, ensuring product testing is inclusive, on brand and speaks to multiple REFY personas.
• Spending time out of the office to drive innovation. E.g. In lab development, ingredient sourcing, assessing market gaps, on field comp shops and travelling to global suppliers and trade fairs.
• Working closely with Design to develop and sign off secondary packaging.
• Working closely with Compliance to review product INCI lists throughout development, ensuring formulas adhere to global regulations
• Working closely with Compliance and Marketing to write product claims and educate our community on ingredient function, formulation and finished product.
• Partnering with Compliance to ensure all product claims are substantiated through appropriate testing methods (stability, safety, clinical and consumer trials).
• Reviewing formula samples to ensure they align with brief and/ or brand standards.
• Using internal project management tool (Asana) and internal trackers to update on project status.
