Job Summary:
Meridian Bioscience is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join the R&D team at our site in London, UK.
The Senior Research Associate will work alongside our team of Senior Scientists and Scientists in a supporting capacity. In this role, they will facilitate the new molecular product development efforts of the R&D team by performing routine laboratory work and experimental work across various projects.
This role is fully laboratory based, with the successful candidate reporting directly to the R&D Team Leader. It is well suited to candidates with strong bench skills who are looking for a collaborative, enabling role within an innovative R&D environment.

Key Duties:

  • Execute experimental work in agreement with the project leader
  • Provide technical support on a variety of scientific projects
  • Preparation of buffers and R&D reagents
  • Follow internal SOPs
  • Contribute towards general documentation and products literature
  • Keep accurate laboratory records
  • Work to ISO13485 standards and understand their requirements
  • Participation in R&D meetings
  • Participation in maintaining routine tidiness of the laboratory

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Experience in molecular biology technologies (e.g. end-point PCR, real-time PCR, LAMP, NGS), including assay design and interpretation of data
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to changes in project requirements
  • Highly organised and self-motivated individual with good attention to detail

    Desirable:

  • Experience of working within ISO13485 standards

  • Knowledge and experience with lyophilization processesExperience in assay development and optimization
  • Experience in protein chemistry (protein expression and purification, enzyme activity)
  • MSc or equivalent experience in a Life Science or related discipline
  • Experience in an active research laboratory or equivalent industrial environment
