About the Opportunity Primarily focussed on environmental radiochemistry, the Senior Radiochemist will provide expert support in radiochemistry, alpha spectrometry, liquid scintillation analysis, gamma spectrometry, gross alpha and beta counting, neutron activation and analysis, and neutron irradiations. This includes fostering and maintaining client relationships, operating and maintaining specialised instrumentation, developing new and improving existing radioanalytical techniques, applying a high degree of radiochemical expertise in the interpretation of analytical results, and training and mentoring staff.About You I am seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to join our dynamic, driven and diverse team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in chemistry, proven people and leadership abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, great attention to detail, strong communication and multitasking capabilities, and a knack for thinking outside the box - Sangeeth Thiruvoth, Radioanalytical Chemistry Capability ManagerYour Duties and Responsibilities Research, develop and implement new and/or refined radiochemical and counting techniques Plan, coordinate, schedule, and execute analyses to meet project requirements Assess and interpret analytical data Utilise expertise in radiochemistry, environmental chemistry, and neutron activation and analysis to advise, share knowledge and support researchers Supervise, mentor and upskill staff and internal and external stakeholders in radiochemistry and nuclear counting techniques Foster an environment which promotes teamwork, collaborations and improvements to operations Manage laboratories to optimise operations and minimise downtime Operate, maintain and improve counting instrumentation including alpha spectrometers, gamma spectrometers, liquid scintillation counters and gross alpha and beta counters Review and interpret large and complex datasets and develop scientific reports Participate and share outcomes at scientific conferences, meetings and seminars, and develop and maintain research networks Maintain and improve quality control and assurance procedures and practices Ensure laboratories are meeting international best practice Plan and participate in fieldwork to collect high quality and targeted samples Please click here to view the Position Description.About Us ANSTO leverages great science to deliver big outcomes.
