Description

Are you looking for excitement and opportunities to work in an innovative imaged guided interventional suite, combining interventional and cardiac radiography whilst using up-to-date, modern equipment. If so then look no further. Here at GHNHSFT the Interventional team is a core part of the trust’s fit for the future vision establishing a hub and spoke model with a busy acute site and a vibrant elective site. A novel working environment has been built with a centralised image guided surgery hub accommodating 3 new Cardiac Labs, 2 new IR labs, and a new hybrid Theatre alongside a new dedicated day case unit. The service has also centralised the cardiac angiography service to this hub and is in the middle of a stepwise progression to 24/7 primary angioplasty. As a result we are looking for enthusiastic motivated radiographers to join our team where we offer opportunities for a job balancing exciting work with a great lifestyle in a DGH that takes pride in punching above its weight, whilst living in one of the most beautiful areas of the country that also has a thriving cultural scene and night life
Applicants must hold BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent; have HCPC registration and appropriate experience within interventional and cardiac cath labs.
The post-holder will be responsible for delivering highly skilled patient focussed care, acting as an advocate for patient safety and excellent experiences in the trust whilst performing high quality general radiographic examinations and more specialised examinations within interventional and cath labs.
The post holder will be working within and clinically managing a multi-disciplinary team on a daily basis, and acting in a supporting role to the senior management team.
The IR service is rapidly expanding with 3 new consultants appointed and a 24/7 on call for sepsis and major haemorrhage. There is a comprehensive range of endovascular services delivered by the IR and vascular surgical team collaboratively, and in addition, there is a burgeoning interventional oncology service with renal cryoablation and TACE and liver ablations to follow.
There are opportunities to help shape the service going forward using advanced interventional imaging techniques such as cone beam CT and perfusion mapping. In addition, there is the opportunity to develop into advanced practitioner roles being pioneered by one of our senior IR radiographers.
The department has a strong educational ethic with a dedicated practice development radiographer and an industry sponsored educational budget for interventional radiographers and nurses, meaning there is opportunity for growth and development.
As a Band 6 radiographer in our department you will be responsible for working with a multidisciplinary team to provide highly skilled patient focused care. You will need to have a high level of clinical knowledge, with good communication and decision making skills, the ability to prioritise and to be flexible in your approach to work, working closely with the band 7 leads to deliver an efficient, effective service while offering guidance and support to junior colleagues.
All staff are expected to work at both Acute hospital sites and the post holder will be expected to participate in the 4 week rolling rota shift and on-call system which exists within the department to provide 24/7 cover, rewarded with competitive payments and rest time.
