Description

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment to the Senior Radiologic Technologist classification in the Medical Services Department. This position is under the direction of the Chief of Primary Care Services, Chief Physician and Surgeon, Medical Services Administrator, and Supervising Registered Nurse.
The incumbent will be responsible for ongoing radiology services. Performing routine and emergency x-rays on all forensic patients at Patton State Hospital. Selecting techniques to obtain optimum radiographic quality; critiquing film to determine whether it should be repeated or extended; being alert to patient crises requiring notification of a physician; and planning and directing the work of other Radiologic Technologists in a hospital setting.

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

Responsibilities
  • Performing and supervising diagnostic imaging procedures (routine, portable, and emergency x-rays)
  • Triaging imaging requests and coordinating services with providers and units
  • Maintaining quality standards and compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and state radiation safety regulations
  • Managing radiology inventory and coordinating service and repair of imaging equipment
  • Participating in departmental budgeting, P&P reviews, QA/PI monitoring, and report preparation
  • Mentoring and training Radiologic Technologists and non-licensed assistants
  • Ensuring staff compliance with infection control and radiation safety protocols
  • Must possess and maintain valid certification as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiology issued by the California Department of Public Health – Radiologic Health Branch
  • Live Scan clearance and background check required
  • Must maintain current CPR certification
  • Full Patient Contact designation—compliance with all mandatory training is required
