  • Agricultural chemical users certificate

Responsibilities

WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS ROLE

As a Senior Park Ranger , you will lead in setting yearly, monthly and weekly works plans to protect, promote and enhance biodiversity values and ecological processes within Banyule City Council’s bushland reserves. You will work closely with the environment community on a range of restoration and maintenance activities throughout the year.
If you love working outdoors, you’ll be joining a passionate and supportive team, collaborating to achieve exceptional conservation outcomes. Working with engaged, friendly and passionate community members, you’ll contribute to the protection and enhancement of some of Melbourne’s most picturesque biodiverse environments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll lead in establishing short-, medium-, and long-term planning to protect and enhance high value biodiversity sites whilst working collaboratively with Environmental Friends Groups to support volunteers working in the same conservation spaces.

You’ll also be effectively managing diverse ecosystems in an urban environment. understanding the threats to conservation and how to manage them. You’ll also:

  • Plan and maintain a range of regeneration activities including weed control, direct seeding, enrichment planting, ecological and weed reduction burning and mapping and monitoring of significant flora and fauna.
  • Oversee the daily tasks of staff.
  • Safely operate and maintain plant and equipment for onsite environmental works.
  • Plan and conduct community events.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining a high level of communication with the team.
