FOOTE LAW PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION, is based in Orangeville, Ontario, and is currently seeking a senior Real Estate / Family Law clerk to join our busy law firm. This position is ideal for a clerk, who desires a high level of responsibility in a fast paced and growing firm on a part time/full time basis. Family law experience considered an asset.
The selected clerk will be a vital team member who is responsible for the following Duties and Responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years work experience at a real estate law firm
  • Work experience in areas of real estate, estates, wills and POA
  • Licensed law clerk
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in individual and team environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Excellent computer skills and use of Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word, Outlook as well as Cosmolex and Will Builder
  • Working knowledge of Teraview

Responsibilities
  • Handing all aspect of residential real estate transactions
  • Review Agreements of Purchase and Sale and loan commitments and documents
  • Liaise with clients, lawyers, and brokers
  • Order and negotiate title insurance policies
  • Attend to closings, conducting title searches, preparing transactions and documents using Teraview and Unity, meeting with clients to review documentation, prepare reporting letters, and preparing other transactional documents for the lawyers review
  • Handling high volume of residential/commercial and refinance, purchase and sale transactions Keeping track of trigger dates
  • Drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney using Wills and Estate software (e.g., Will Builder)
  • Preparing correspondence based on written or verbal instructions and liaise with other lawyers, financial institutions, government, and others
