Are you passionate about supporting communities in times of need and helping rebuild critical infrastructure after disasters? The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking up to 7 dedicated Reconstruction Coordination Officers to serve as a vital technical liaison between councils, state agencies, and our internal teams. These roles play a key part in facilitating disaster-related infrastructure recovery, preparedness, and mitigation across New South Wales.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will contribute to the efficient and compliant delivery of recovery projects by guiding councils through infrastructure funding processes and providing on-ground technical support during disaster events.

  • Provide technical guidance to councils for identifying, prioritising, and preparing infrastructure funding claims under the DRFA and other key programs.
  • Act as the primary technical contact during and after disasters, including attendance at Emergency Operations Centres and participation in LEMCs/REMCs.
  • Collaborate with councils to develop disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies that enhance infrastructure resilience.
  • Resolve technical challenges in disaster recovery projects by liaising with councils, agencies, and internal teams.
  • Facilitate the submission and review of funding claims, ensuring alignment with DRFA guidelines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with councils to support consistent engagement and infrastructure delivery.
  • Monitor council capacity for disaster-related construction projects and provide feedback for capacity-building initiatives.
  • Contribute to infrastructure recovery reporting and program tracking to ensure alignment with broader reconstruction objectives.

  • You have a solid foundation in infrastructure delivery and reconstruction, with experience in both routine and disaster-affected environments.
  • You’re confident navigating funding frameworks like the DRFA and have a track record of supporting successful funding applications and project delivery.
  • You’ve worked closely with local governments and understand the challenges and opportunities they face in disaster recovery and infrastructure resilience.
  • You’re familiar with emergency management structures and have actively participated in Emergency Operations Centres and local or regional emergency committees.
  • You’re a problem-solver who can assess complex technical issues and develop practical, compliant solutions under pressure.
  • You’re an excellent communicator who can build trust and maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including councils, state agencies, and internal teams.
