The Tax Administration Branch within the Taxation Division in the Department of Finance administers taxation legislation through information, compliance, audit and enforcement programs on behalf of the government of Manitoba. The Branch is seeking an innovative and highly motivated individual to join its team as a Senior Refund Administrator.

Conditions of Employment:

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration and/or accounting diploma or certificate. A combination of education and related work experience may be considered
  • Experience reviewing applications and documentation for compliance with policies, procedures, legislation or regulations
  • Experience interpreting, explaining and applying policies, legislation or regulations
  • Experience providing customer service to the public by phone and in person in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations with high a degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-tasked team environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

Desired

  • Knowledge of the tax statutes administered by the Taxation Division, including the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA)

Duties:
Reporting to the Refund Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for verifying and processing refund applications under the tax statutes administered by the Taxation Division. The incumbent is responsible for the most complex and sensitive refund applications analysing applications that require senior delegation and financial authority.
