  • MSc or PhD in a related field, previous experience in regulatory affairs or working with regulatory authorities or on regulatory topic
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience in the sector
  • Solid understanding of the policy and regulatory framework of the EU’s energy sector as well as the related institutional set-up and associated processes (EC, NRAs, ACER, etc.)
  • Track record of navigating, analysing and advising on the regulatory framework surrounding European electricity markets (CEP, FCA, CACM, EB GL, SO GL, NC DR etc.) - incl. subsequent terms and conditions or methodologies (TCMs) - and linking the regulatory framework with implementation and related compliance
  • Knowledge of associated national regulation in one or several EU Member States
  • Good understanding of electricity markets, their functioning, design and dynamics as well as of the relevant market developments in the EU
  • Very strong analytical skills, which include forward and creative thinking, ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and convey them succinctly
  • Ability to summarise and extract relevant information from lengthy/complex regulations/decisions/methodologies and draw implications, formulate opinions and advise on impact on existing and/or regulatory feasibility of new projects
  • Ability to adapt communication to the addressee’s level of knowledge as well as institutional position
  • Knowledge of other sectors and their regulatory frameworks (gas, hydrogen, etc.) is a plus
  • High degree of autonomy – incl. experience with project management, motivation to get things done and proactive problem solving
  • Professional fluency in English (minimum C1). Fluency in German, Dutch, French or another European language is a plus
  • A visa/permit to work in the Netherlands or another EU country with our presence and openness to travel abroad (project-dependent

Responsibilities

As a (Senior) Regulatory Expert you will deliver high-quality analysis and advise related to the regulatory framework governing EU energy markets, in particular the electricity sector, and support clients in navigating this complex and evolving landscape. You will further support the team in drafting proposals for clients for future projects and train other team members.
