REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ICAEW, ICAS, ACA, ACCA or CIMA is essential for this position.
  • Previous experience working within the insurance/reinsurance industry is required
  • Demonstrated background in accounting roles involving insurance accounting and reporting responsibilities is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for relaying complex information clearly in both written reports and verbal presentations
  • Advanced analytical abilities combined with a commercial mindset focused on continuous improvement are vital for success in this role
  • Proven capability in building dependable relationships with stakeholders ranging from executive committee members to operational staff is important
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including query functions; some VBA skills are advantageous along with willingness to develop further technical expertise
  • In-depth knowledge of FP&A software or similar databases is expected to manage large volumes of financial data efficiently
  • Comprehensive understanding of best practice processes within the insurance industry ensures effective contribution to process enhancements

Responsibilities

As a Senior Reinsurance Finance Business Partner, you will play a central role in shaping the financial direction of a global insurance segment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with senior leaders across underwriting, finance, reserving, pricing, investments, and strategy functions to ensure that all aspects of financial planning are meticulously managed. You will be responsible for producing detailed management information reports that inform executive decisions while proactively identifying areas for process improvement. By leveraging advanced analytical tools and maintaining close communication with stakeholders at every level-from ExCo members to operational teams-you will help drive both short-term performance targets and long-term strategic objectives. Your ability to interpret complex data sets into actionable insights will be crucial in supporting commercial decision-making processes.

  • Partner closely with Global Underwriting Product Heads and Segment CFO to deliver accurate segment financial results and support the production of the annual business plan.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to coordinate responses on management information, reforecasts, pricing, claims, expenses, investments, and financial reporting activities.
  • Identify improvement opportunities within finance processes and design as well as implement enhancements to drive efficiency and data integrity.
  • Utilise advanced FP&A tools to meet segment requirements while contributing to ongoing improvements in data quality and reporting standards.
  • Act as a key point of contact for Underwriting Heads regarding financial information related to both planning and actuals for their respective teams.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders across Underwriting lines of business, Group Finance, Reserving, Pricing, Outwards Reinsurance Accounting, Investments, and Strategy.
  • Drive the analysis and reporting of global segment management information (MI) and quarterly results for senior management and the Executive Committee.
  • Manage the production of comprehensive Segment CFO financial reports including board presentations and executive summaries.
  • Provide creative insights into current trends as well as recommendations for future areas of focus or investment based on robust market research.
