We are looking for a Senior Reporting Analyst to help grow our business and contribute to our future.
The Senior Reporting Analyst supports Finance in the preparation and distribution of all monthly financial statements as well as ISC’s quarterly and annual public consolidated external financial statements, note disclosures plus management discussion, and analysis (MD&A). Reporting to Senior Finance Manager, Complex Accounting, other highlights include:
- Helps ensure ISC achieves, meets, and satisfies all its monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements and timelines.
- Works with supervisor and internal and external stakeholders to develop month end, quarter end and annual reporting with a focus on specific components such as segment information, cash flows and corporate income taxes.
- For areas of assigned responsibility, ensures that journal entries, transactions and accounts are recorded accurately, reconciled, and are properly consolidated in ISC’s internal and external financial statements and aligned to the companies stated accounting policies, IFRS Accounting Standards (“IFRS”) and internal controls over financial reporting (“ICFR”).
- Supports management accounting profitability recording, reporting, and monitoring, including labour and overhead components.
- Supports treasury including cash forecasting and reporting.
- Preparation of accounting position papers to support accounting treatments when necessary.
- Prepares General ledger account reconciliations and journal entries as assigned.
- Reviews general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries as assigned.
- Supports compliance and reporting for corporate income tax and commodity taxes.
What you’ll need:
- This knowledge is generally gained through a university degree in Business Administration or Commerce, with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At a minimum, working toward an accounting designation is required. An accounting designation is preferred.
- Good knowledge and understanding of:
- Accounting policies, processes, and procedures.
- Policy development and implementation.
- Development of working paper files
- IFRS Accounting Standards and internal controls over financial reporting.
- The critical impact of IFRS. This includes interpretation of new accounting guidelines, determining if they are different than current guidelines, assessing the impact of the change in reporting and make recommendations accordingly.
- Thorough knowledge of systems analysis, design, and installation.
- Ability to solve complex problems constructively and communicate results to all individuals involved.
- Expert level proficiency with computerized accounting and budget software and systems, spreadsheets such as Excel and web-based applications.
- Proficient with other software packages such as word-processing, databases and power point presentations.
- Knowledge of consulting methods and relationship-building techniques.
- Ability to collaborate and support the preparation of cost benefit analyses and comparisons including the use of Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analyses.
- Ability to learn and retain knowledge of the corporation and its products and services and corporate policies.
