Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership in financial reporting and governance under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
  • Deliver insightful, high-quality reports and performance analytics to senior stakeholders across government.
  • Prepare and certify periodic disaster expenditure reports (fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, annually), briefing notes, and claims submissions to the Commonwealth.
  • Liaise with agencies to ensure forecasting accuracy and compliance under DRFA 2018 guidelines.
  • Partner with stakeholders including NEMA and internal teams to manage reporting outcomes, negotiations and respond to ad hoc information requests.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance financial systems, transparency and reporting tools for better oversight and accountability.
  • Oversee project planning from requirement gathering through to user acceptance testing and training, ensuring effective delivery of strategic goals.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience working in financial reporting and funding allocation in complex, sensitive environments.
  • Expertise in interpreting and presenting complex accounting issues, with strong analytical acumen and knowledge of government sector reporting.
  • Skills in using data visualisation tools to uncover and communicate performance insights.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management abilities to build trust, align interests, and deliver impactful outcomes.
  • Experience as a qualified accountant with strong financial reporting capabilities.
  • Expertise in data modelling and proficiency in data visualisation tools.
