Description:

SUMMARY

The Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced Senior Research Administration Associate to oversee all research administration activities of the Center’s robust research portfolio. The Center currently has nine faculty who are conducting funded research. This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after an initial training period.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
Current BCM employees who are eligible to transfer are encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CRA certification
  • Pre or post award grant management experience with federal awards
  • Ability to display a professional, positive attitude and build trust with faculty and staff
  • Highly detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Experience with SAP S4 Hana, PowerBI or BRAIN

Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary post-award associate for all Center research faculty and their grant portfolios, including regular budget monitoring and reconciliation and preparation of internal PI-level reports
  • Oversee pre-award activities and grant submissions
  • Review and approve grant applications, certifying summary data in the College’s electronic Biomedical Research and Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department
  • Provide grant program expertise, financial expertise, and guidance related to sponsored research to leaders and faulty
  • Train lower level research administration staff
  • Lead research financial management and accountability, including developing budgets, monitoring budget and grant expenditures, reconciling accounts, preparing and approving financial reports for faculty and sponsors
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare special financial reports
  • Serve as primary approver for effort reporting and research-related expenses
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of the pre-award and post award grants management process
  • Review and analyze current protocols, faculty-staff communication, and quality of the submission process
  • Make recommendations for process revisions and lead implementation of changes as appropriate
  • Advise departmental leadership on research mission growth opportunities and future staffing needs
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
