Description National Apartment Association (NAA) is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Research Analyst to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Research Analyst specializing in the multifamily market, you will be a data-driven storyteller who wants to shape the narrative of the multifamily housing industry. The Senior Research Analyst will work with multifamily industry, government, survey, financial, economic and geospatial data to produce impactful research products, including reports, articles, maps, dashboards and other visualizations. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in data collection, data analysis, and reporting, as well as a passion for understanding the economic forces shaping the multifamily housing industry. Principal accountabilities: Utilize advanced software tools like Stata, R, Python, and Power BI to analyze large datasets and uncover key trends in the rental housing sector and economic trends. Collaborate with the Director of Advocacy Research and research team to develop and refine methodologies for research projects, ensuring the relevance and accuracy of data collected. Create public-facing insightful reports, articles, maps and dashboards that effectively communicate key findings to diverse audiences, including NAA members, affiliates, policymakers and the media. Assist with ad hoc data requests by providing sophisticated data collection and analysis and sharing critical insights to support the rental housing industry. Regularly evaluate and enhance data collection and analysis processes to improve the quality and relevance of research outputs Requirements Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, public policy, economics or a related field. Minimum of five (5) years of advanced, applied data analysis experience, including coding, integrating, and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data to produce actionable insights. Strong proficiency in at least one statistical or programming language (e.g., Stata, Python, R or SQL), with preference for Stata or Python. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex findings for diverse and non-technical audiences. Extensive applied data analysis experience, ideally in real estate, government, trade association, or nonprofit contexts, supporting research, policy or advocacy initiatives. Preferred: Strong command of primary, secondary, and quantitative and qualitative methodologies and procedures. Strong project management or organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel is possible for this position.
