This a grant funded contractual position. Job Roles / Responsibilities: To work with the Research Specialist and Research Manager on a research project in order to investigate/establish the aims and objectives of the research project. The incumbent will be responsible in: advising mothers on preparation for delivery, choice of a skilled attendant at delivery, and signs/symptoms of the onset of labor; ensuring 2 doses of TD immunization to every expectant mother; maintaining adequate health records of expectant mothers according to the standing instructions; advises pregnant and lactating mothers on their and their children’s nutritional needs; assesses the nutritional status of pregnant women and lactating mothers through hemoglobin estimation and other anthropometric measures (weight, growth, etc.); advises the mothers on the care of their health and that of the infant; advises mothers on optimum birth spacing; provide advice to mothers in the post-natal period to enable them to resume normal daily routines at the earliest; assess each infant for growth and umbilical cord condition at the post-natal visit; supervises the health of the infant and nursing mother by calling them at the facility on a monthly basis; LHV will initially evaluate all patients for vitals assessment (BP, Pulse, Temperature, Respiratory Rate, Weigh & Height); she will screen random blood sugar levels, blood pressure, hemoglobin, and urine dipstick analysis for co-existing conditions in pregnant patients; provides Basic Emergency Obstetric & Neonatal Care (EmONC) when delivery services are established at the clinic; in case of leave, the DIO and Vaccinator will cover the LHV station under the supervision of the in-charge; performs any other duty assigned by the in-charge (MO, WMO) and Project Manager. Requirements: The applicant should have: Bachelors or Intermediate with Diploma in LHV or Midwife; one year of experience will be preferred in the relevant field; strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills; ability and willingness to work independently in peri-urban and field settings; flexibility in taking over additional/new responsibilities when required by the project or directed by reporting Manager; sound clinical judgment and community health knowledge; proficient in Urdu and English (verbal and written); ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Responsibilities
The incumbent will collaborate with research staff on project aims, advising mothers on delivery preparation, skilled attendant choice, labor signs, and ensuring TD immunization compliance.
