Description
The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Senior Research Data Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position will report to the SPRINT-KIDS Program Manager within the Pediatric Emergency Research Team and project’s lead investigator at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. As a member of the Pediatric Emergency Research Team (PERT - Pediatric Emergency Research Team | Cumming School of Medicine | University of Calgary), the Senior Research Data Coordinator may be asked to provide assistance as required on other projects being led by the team. Ongoing direction will be provided by project investigators and collaborators. This position involves research work and will be primarily located on-site at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Projects undertaken by this position are managed effectively, on time, on budget and aligned with the SPRINT-KIDS project’s overall objectives
  • Program Planning & Development
  • Leads, manages, and participates in data-based projects as assigned
  • Implementing processes to gather information and participates in data analysis to develop recommendations for improvement and act on the recommendations in collaboration with the leaders and other key stakeholders. Monitors and reports progress, as required, toward achievement of performance indicators and collaborates to analyze trends and meet targets
  • Create new databases while ensuring the successful management and continued quality assurance of all data collected by the SPRINT-KIDS program
  • Data and query management, data QA, and statistical analysis for publications and reports
  • Maintain, and manage REDCap databases to house all program data
  • Export, sort, extract and repackage extracted data into a variety of formats as required
  • Develop reporting strategy and accompanying data reports
  • Supervising data entry and data Quality Assurance (QA) for the SPRINT-KIDS program
  • Preparing project/program related communication (e.g., reports, briefings, correspondence, presentations, etc.) related to data management and providing specialized, technical information or research results to internal &/or external stakeholders
  • Responsible for documentation of data-related changes and maintenance of program manuals and administrative guidelines
  • Review data entry work completed by all team members for accuracy
  • Developing and implementing improvements and changes to data policies and procedures in conjunction with program leadership

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certificate or education in data management, data analytics and/or biomedical statistics or BSc or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Health Sciences or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Proficient use of a statistical package (e.g., R, SPSS, STATA, SAS) is required
  • Project Management certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with large datasets, reporting, and performing data management
  • Familiarity with epidemiological principles and clinical data extraction an asset
  • Extensive experience with data management and working with and building largescale databases
  • Experience building and working with REDCap
  • Experience working with in a multidisciplinary environment and providing reports to decision-makers
  • Knowledge of electronic medical record systems (e.g., Epic) and familiarity with clinical data extraction considered an asset
  • Requires high level of effective time and project management, supervisory skill, personal initiative and teamwork, accuracy, and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge and experience with database or data collection systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple simultaneous priorities in an effective, efficient manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly via email with team members at other institutions
