Our team focuses on development of future communications technology and services for demanding application areas such as autonomous and remote-controlled systems, and industrial users. The team is located in Oulu and Espoo, preferred location for this position is in Oulu but also Espoo is negotiable.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a (Senior) Research Engineer to work on our research and development projects on wireless mobile networks including fixed core networks. The work includes for example participation on Proof-of-Concept development, architectural design, and development for next generation of network management solution, studying solutions for orchestration, management, and monitoring, among other future research topics on new beyond-5G/6G technologies.
The content of the work will be tailored according to the worker’s skills and practical experience. We are providing interesting and challenging work in a dynamic research team. This opens excellent possibilities for the applicant to participate both in national and international R&D projects.

WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE EXPERIENCE IN SOME OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS: (YOU DON’T NEED TO MASTER EVERYTHING AS THE CONTENT OF THE WORK WILL BE TAILORED ACCORDING TO THE WORKER’S SKILLS AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE)

• Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, computer information systems, information technology, telecommunication, or relevant field.
• Experience in information technology or network engineering.
• Understanding of Internet architecture, protocols, and routing and forwarding
• Routing and switching L2 and/or L3
• Basic understanding of mobile telecommunication system’s OSI layer 2 and 3 protocols, interfaces and functionalities is a plus
• Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs)
• Experience and knowledge in Network management and orchestration
• Knowledge of operator network management processes Wi-Fi, 4G, and 5G
• IT skills and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or C++
• Mandatory spoken and written fluency in English, fluent Finnish skills are beneficial
