Job Description
Griffith University and Metro South Health are proud to offer an exciting joint appointment opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow in Acute Care- Nursing. This unique position that will provide a powerful platform for academic-clinical collaboration, based jointly in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith and the Princess Alexandra Hospital, part of Metro South Health.
You will have a key role in shaping the future of acute care nursing by conducting impactful clinical and multidisciplinary research, leading academic and health service innovation, and mentoring the next generation of nurse researchers. Your work will strengthen the vital connection between research and real-world practice, contributing directly to improved patient outcomes and health service delivery.
This role offers the rare opportunity to work across two leading institutions, embedding your research into clinical environments and translating evidence into practice. You will foster a culture of research excellence, collaborate with clinician-researchers, supervise higher degree research students, and actively pursue external research funding.
This is a full time, fixed term (5 year appointment) position based at the Griffith Nathan campus and Princess Alexandra Hospital. As Griffith and the hospital are multi-campus facilities, you may be required to work across other locations as needed.

SALARY RANGE

The full time base salary for Senior Research Fellow (SRF) ranges from $138,702 - $159,936 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total package range is $162,281 - $187,125 per annum.

We are seeking an outstanding researcher who can demonstrate:

  • Possession of a doctoral qualification or equivalent professional experience in nursing or a relevant field.
  • Has a strong and sustained track record of research and peer-reviewed publications in acute care nursing.
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining external research funding.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse, to be active and maintained for the duration of the appointment.
  • Experience building effective collaborations across academic and health care settings.
  • Proven leadership in mentoring early-career researchers and HDR candidates.
  • A commitment to education and contribution to teaching in relevant undergraduate and/or postgraduate nursing programs.
